5. Colours, Directions and Months.


Colours : There are many colours  in nature. But you must atleast know these twelve basic colours. So I am describing them with their pronounciation.
Red is called as "Lal"
Orange is called as "Narangi"
Yellow is called as  "Piwala"
Black is called as "Kala"
Voilet is called as "Jambhala"
Green is called as "Hirwa"
Pink  is called as  "Gulabi"
Blue is called as "Nila"
Brown is called as "Khaki"
White is called as "Pandhara"
Grey is called as "Karada"
Light green is called as "Popati"

Colours in English and  Devanagari script :
Red    =  लाल           Pink   =  गुलाबी         Orange      =   नारंगी      
Blue   =  निळा          Yellow =  पिवळा        Brown       =   खाकी     
Black =  काळा           White =  पांढरा           Violet         =  जांभळा 
Grey   =  करडा          Green  =  हिरवा          Light green =  पोपटी

 

Red      =  लाल 



Pink    =   गुलाबी

    Orange=  नारंगी    


Blue    =    निळा 


Yellow =   पिवळा

Brown =   खाकी


Black   =   काळा  


White =    पांढरा


Violet  =  जांभळा


Grey   =   करडा


Green   =  हिरवा


Light green =पोपटी



Directions : There are ten directions which are described below along with their Marathi pronunciation.
East is called as "Purva"
West is called as "Paschim"
North is called as "Uttar"
South is called as "Dhakshin"
North-east is called as "Eshanya"
South-east is called as "Agnayah"
North-west is called as "Wayavyah"
South-west is called as "Nairathyah"
Up is called as "Var"
Down is called as "Khali"


Directions in English and Devanagari script :
                                                                                                                                               
East            =  पूर्व         
West           =   पश्चिम
North          =  उत्तर   
South          =   दक्षिण 
North-east  =  ईशान्य   
South- east =  अग्नेय 
North-west =  वायव्य  
South-west =  नैऋत्य
Up              =  वर                  
Down         =  खाली      



Marathi months: These are called as  Chaitra, Vaishak, Jaystha, Ashad, Shravan, Bhadrapad, Ashwin, Kartik, Margashirh, Paush, Magh, Falgun. In tabulated form they will look like as below.


 1 चैत्र = (Chaitra)
 - आश्विन (Ashwin)
 2 - वैशाख (Vaishak) 
 - कार्तिक (Kartik)       
 3 - जेष्ठ (Jaystha)
 9  मार्गशीष (Margshirsh)
 4 - आषाढ (Ashad)
      10 - पौष (Paush) 
 5 - श्रावण (Shravan)
      11 - माघ (Magh)    
 6 - भाद्रपद (Bhadrapad)
      12 - फाल्गुन (Falgun)
